Monday Smiles, bookcases

It’s no secret I’m a bookworm. I was having coffee at home with a friend of mine the other day and as “normal” women do we were chatting (not gossiping) about the new girlfriend of a friend of ours. The chat came to the point where we were both wondering how the shiny 30-year blonde had managed to own a good amount of jewellery (real ones) when with our salary, which is no less than hers, we could barely make the month without an empty bank account wallet. And then my friend looked around my living room, stared at my bookcase bookcases and in the most naive way said, “Well, if you add up the money you have spent on all (a couple of hundreds) books you owe, you would have probably been able to afford diamonds too.”

bookcases I sighed uttering a “F@#$ diamonds! My books have made me richer!”, and continued sipping my coffee. Truth is I have started considering myself a Booklady who instead of cats owns hundreds of books and just a small collection of fake blingy jewellery. I sometimes find myself repeating as a mantra “do not enter a bookshop today” because when I do I always come out with one or two bags of books that make my palms red from carrying home. But then, the sweet moments of secluding myself in worlds of words put along in a way that nothing else really matters.  I find in books a relaxing spot where worries of the day are nowhere to be found and “yes, I do believe I’m richer than any shiny girl adorned with diamonds!”
